Harish Kaushal

As Head of Finance at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute, Harish Kaushal, MBA, CPA, oversees the continuous improvement and growth of Gates MRI’s financial operations.

Harish brings more than 20 years of Finance leadership experience in pharmaceuticals and health-tech helping businesses set strategy, accelerate revenue growth, drive business development deals, and scale global operations. Harish worked at Novartis, a global pharmaceuticals company from 2003-2021 in various Finance leadership roles in US and Switzerland, including VP, Head of Business Development, Licensing and M&A Finance at Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research, VP, Head Finance Novartis Shared Services Americas, and Head Financial Planning & Analysis and Commercial Support, North America Oncology among others. Harish also led Global Finance and Administration at Medocity, Inc. a growth stage health-tech company, where he helped establish strategy and growth plans, supported institutional fund raise, set up global Finance operations, and strengthened controls and processes for rapid growth underway. Harish started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers where he worked for 9 years in audit and public accounting, and supported transactions and business consulting across multiple industries.

Harish earned his MBA from INSEAD, France, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University. Harish is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the US and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in India.
