As CFO and Head of Business Operations at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute, Harish Kaushal oversees the continuous improvement and growth of Gates MRI’s Finance, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, Information Technology, Institutional Excellence, and Alliance Management functions.
A seasoned finance leader with extensive experience in pharmaceuticals and health-tech, Harish specializes in strategy, revenue growth, business development, and global operations. He spent nearly two decades at Novartis in senior finance roles across the US and Switzerland, including VP, Head of Business Development, Licensing, and M&A Finance at the Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research. He also led finance and business teams for North America Oncology and Novartis Business Services Americas.
Harish later served as Global Head of Finance and Administration at Medocity, a health-tech company, where he contributed to strategy, fundraising, and maturing finance and business operations to support rapid growth. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, gaining expertise in audit, transactions, and consulting across multiple industries.
He holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Commerce degree from Delhi University and is both a US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an Indian Chartered Accountant (CA).
